Ian Botham Visits!
Wednesday 26th April saw Test legend Ian Botham visit the Newcastle Cricket Centre and South Northumberland CC as part of his "Beefy's Basics" program for Sky Sports. He passed on his legendary skills to two of our local schools and also some of our junior members. It was a fatastic experience for the children and also for many of the parents who got to meet their childhood hero.
The program "Beefy's Basics" is scheduled to go out on Sky Sports as part of their Cricket AM on Saturday 20th May. Botham was kind enough to pose for photos and sign autographs for many who came to see him.
He was highly impressed with the facilities here at the Newcastle Cricket Centre and South Northumberland CC describing them as a "Green oasis easily good enough for first class cricket". He hopes the facilities are currently being used and continue to be utilised to the full capacity they deserve.
